The Government is providing a total of £150 million per year for the academic years 2013/14 and 2014/15 to provide new and substantial primary school sport funding. Part of the 2015/16 grant will be added to the School Budget in October 2015.The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to Primary school Head Teachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children.
Each school has received £8,000 plus an extra £5 per pupil each year for the next two years. The money can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools.
The pupil premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.
