Writing at Warstones
At Warstones Primary School, we believe that the ability to write with confidence and accuracy is an essential life skill. We endeavor to enable all of our children to communicate effectively using the printed word in a wide range of contexts. Our teaching of writing reflects our belief that it is a complex process that requires many skills such as handwriting, spelling, sentence construction, grammar, punctuation and awareness of text structure and audience.

Spellings
Here at Warstones, we use Spelling Shed to ensure small step progression across the school. Each week, a new spelling pattern is introduced to the children during a dedicated spelling session and the children complete activities around this pattern. The spellings are also a focus during writing sessions that week and children are encouraged to learn the words for that week at home. Each week, there is a short spelling test to see how well the patterns have been retained.
