The teaching and learning of Science at Warstones Primary School, aims to present children with a real sense of awe and wonder through first-hand investigative experiences. We are lucky that we have an excellent outdoor learning environment around us and our curriculum isn’t limited to the classroom.

Throughout our curriculum, children are presented with practical opportunities to learn from hands on experiences. We focus on being practical scientists who understand the enquiry cycle and the numerous aspects of what makes up Science: predicting, testing, concluding, evaluating, questioning and presenting findings.

We have a Science Fair that takes place every year during British Science Week, where children are invited to carry out investigations at home and bring in their work to share with their peers. During this session, Year 6 children take part in some “big science”, a one-off experiment that demonstrates a key scientific idea through an exciting activity.
